From what I can see, your $25 membership fee merely provides for a discount to the annual sleep meeting. The question that needs to be answered is as follows: How can a society representing Pennsylvania sleep professionals only meet or interact with said members once a year. I would be very interested in hearing a response to this question.

This is a reply to the two previous posts.

As we are a new group, there are many things that still need get get up and running. We will talk about some of these at the meeting this weekend (I hope you can attend).

In response to the issues raised:

    1. We will be sending certificates to all members soon. We are just finalizing the design. Also, we plan to send out membership cards, with ID numbers on them. We are developing a system for ID numbers that can be used to receive discounts on meetings, job postings, advertising, etc.

    2. We need to interact with our members more. This means two things. First, in addition to our main meeting, we will be trying to sponsor or co-sponsor other events around the state. For example an upcoming Sleep meeting in Pittsburgh will be co-sponsored by the PSS. Second, this means more communications. We are working on that. This will involve a newsletter and more frequent mailings. Frankly, we need volunteers from our membership to help make some of these communications a reality. Would you be willing to help?

    3. We are hoping to add additional value for membership dues. Not only do the dues help us represent the field in the state, but they will give you access to the newsletter and discounts on services such as job postings, etc. In the future, we hope to expand what we can offer our members. But since we are a volunteer organization made up of sleep professionals, it depends on us (and you) to make that happen. So volunteer for committees, run for a board position, and let's get some of these ideas moving!

We also hope to use this message board more to interact with members.

Any other questions or concerns? Or ideas or suggestions?
